Christmas trees, Christmans trees hmm, hmm, hmm, hm hmmmm.
I sing this everytime I see any kind of Christmas decoration, tree, lights anything during the holiday season. Sing it to the tune of jingle bells, I promise it will stay with you all day long!
Anyway, enough of me getting into the spirit. This is my absolutely most favorite time of the year. So many things to create. For this article, a very easy creation that won't take a lot of time and ends up with gorgeous results. Best part, you can pack it away and use it again next year. Everyone has their special holiday centerpiece for the holiday table. I am partial to flowers and candlelight. Supplies needed for this design are: 1.) 10" or 12" grapevine wreath. You can use the standard circular banded type for this creation. 2.)Large three wick scented or unscented red (you can use green) candle. 3.) A bunch of plumosa if available otherwise any type of green fern type dried flower. 4.) Assorted miniature ornaments 5.) Holly with berries if you're fortunate to have them otherwise an artificial bunch with a "real" look. 6.) Cinnamon sticks, small (optional) 7.) Gold filigree dried flowers 8.) Hot glue gun and clear glue sticks 9.)Dried cedar sprigs (if you find them tinged in gold, that would be perfect, otherwise you can lightly spray the tips yourself using quick drying gold paint. Be sure to do this outside or in a well ventilated area. Let completely dry before using in the design. 10.) Gold or silver (round), platter a little larger than the size of the wreath. First, place your candle in the center of the wreath which you have placed on the platter. This serves as a base for your centerpiece and catches the hot wax. You will create your wreath so that it encircles and highlights the candle. Unlike creating a hanging wreath, the candle wreath flowers and overall design will be on the top and outside of the wreath itself. Next, place and glue the plumosa all around the outside of the wreath, like a frame. You can double or triple layer it. Plumose is very delicate, so be very careful. Next, add and glue cedar sprigs all around the outside. Once you have the fullness you desire stratigically place and glue the assorted ornaments and holly berries. The last area to work on is the top of the wreath. Again, using a mixture of plumosa, cedar and gold filigree, place and glue the pieces. Last, add more miniature ornatments, berries and cinnamon sticks. For the inside area between the wreath and the candle, you can place "crumbled" green or red tissue paper just be sure that the flame from the candle or the hot wax cannot reach any of the dried flowers. You can change the color of the candle at any time and replace the paper when it becomes to wax laden. Go To Page: 1 2
