Next, in the center portion of the basket begin placing your flower selections. I start with my tallest silks and graduate the height down each side, working the flowers in and around the veggies for contrast in color and effect. You can make the basket as full of color as you like! Place miniature cones in clusters and accent with red chili peppers and corn husks. Cornhusks are great to use as fillers and to emphasize color and different textures. Place colorful leaves throughout the basket and secure with hot glue.
If you're in need of supplies for this project, please visit Sunshine Discount Crafts at http://www.sunshinecrafts.com/ and Afloral.com at http://www.afloral.com/store.asp for a wide variety of goods. If you want to add additional height to your basket, wheat shafts, bromus, larkspur or avena are perfect additions. Keep in mind you are creating several vignettes within your basket, i.e. groups of flowers, clusters of cones and varieties of vegetables. Once you have everything placed to your liking, it is important to "pull" everything together. This is where adding or rearranging fillers, pinecones or more flowers is necessary. And there you have it, a beautiful centerpiece created by the fruits of your labor that will grace your holiday table. Have a wonderful holiday with friends and family and till next time, Happy Thanksgiving! Go To Page: 1 2
