I know it may sound funny, wearable wreaths, but these miniature wreaths make a beautiful pin ornament to wear on your jacket, blazer or vest.
The miniature wreath is usually 2 to 3 ½ inches wide, and as you know if you read my article "Let's Make Miniature Christmas Wreaths", they are very versatile.
If you've been creating wreaths or baskets or any project using dried flowers, you have leftover scraps. A combination of bits and pieces consisting of ribbon, flower heads with no stems, tiny sprigs of statice and an assortment of leaves. You know what I mean, a hodgepodge of colorful tidbits too useful to throw away. I keep a cookie tin nearby just for the odds and ends and to make the wearable wreath jewelry, I will be utilizing items from this tin. Supplies needed for this project are:
Snippet: You can purchase the wreaths at your local craft store or if you prefer to make your own, please read my article "Straw and Vine Wreath Bases" dated January 18, 2000, for simple instructions. If you decide to make your own, you have the option of making the wreath even smaller. You could, for example, have a trio of three tiny, decorated wreaths. The beauty of this project, as with the larger versions is, there is no right or wrong way. The style, placement and colors you select are all unique to what you like. The design is your individual vision so be creative and enjoy. To make the wreaths, follow these steps:
There you have it! These little beauties should take 15 or 20 minutes, per wreath, to make. Some additional suggestions you might like to create are: Designing a four leaf clover pin using miniature silk flowers to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. For Easter, decorate with tiny tea roses and ribbon and maybe add a miniature bunny. For Mother's Day pick her favorite flower and design a pin especially for her. For Dad, find a miniature set of golf clubs or bowling ball, something unique to him, add some greenery and flowers, attach the miniature and just like that, you've created a special pin that he can attach to his golf or bowling bag.
