Patriotic Petals

Next, start inserting the red carnations. For each chrysanthemum, have two carnations to offset it. Once you have these dispersed throughout the basket in a uniform manner add the blue salvia.

Remember, the salvia is the height builder so be sure and place them throughout the arrangement so they tower above the rest. You can add shorter pieces to the bottom of the arrangement for uniformity of color, too.

The last bit you will add will be the plumose fern. I like plumose because it is so delicate and doesn't overpower the flowers. You could use silk Boston fern fronds if you prefer.

To add a little extra something to the arrangement and just for fun, how about inserting some sparklers!

Caution: These are for decoration only and should not, under any circumstances, be lit while they are part of the flower arrangement. Remove them from the arrangement before lighting.

As with all the projects I create and share with you, there is no right or wrong. You can choose to have the basket overflowing with flowers or you can make it much smaller to suit your needs.

However you decide, just be sure the flowers aren't clumped together and the colors are evenly spread out. It's also important to stand back and take a critical look to be sure you don't have a lopsided arrangement. No matter what angle you're looking at the arrangement from, it should be uniform.

And there you have it, another lovely patriotic centerpiece for the holiday.

Hope you've enjoyed this project and I'll see you next month with something new to do.

Thanks for visiting.
