Father's Day ProjectNext month on June 20th, we celebrate DAD'S DAY! Now thinking about dried flower crafts and Dad's don't seem to mix but I think I've come up with a simple project for the kid's that will work out just fine. Instead of a dried or silk arrangement how about we make something really unique that will allow the kid's to show their creativity to dad along with sharing their own words especially for him. Once the basic outline is drawn the rest of the creation is easy enough. Let's make a personalized Father's Day card! Supplies needed: 1) Standard sheets of construction paper. You choose the colors. 2) Craft glue and craft safety scissors 3) 1-3 bags of moss (green, yellow, blue) depends on the design 4) Twigs or short sticks from your yard or the park 5) Pine needles if available 6) Dried flowers (daisy's, babies breath, straw flowers) any small flower and various colors 7) Miniature animals (optional) 8) Colored markers 9) Cotton balls This project involves crafting and drawing, so roll up your sleeves and let's get started! For the first Dad-Card, I'm using a piece of light blue construction paper. You will need to fold this in half so it opens up like a card. Inside, you'll write your message to your dad but let's work on the outside, first. On the outside, draw a line across the middle as a guide to follow. For this card, I'm doing a dad who likes to fish. On the section below the line, take some of the dark blue moss, crumple it up some so it's not all in a bunch, and glue it to the bottom portion. This is the "water". On the line itself, draw an outline of a boat and then use the small twigs to build the boat or, if twigs aren't available, color in the outline with your favorite marker color. Draw dad as a stick figure and be sure to draw a fishing rod, too, or use a piece of pine needle as the rod and glue a piece of thread from the tip of the rod to the water to denote the "fishing line". The kid's really get to show their artistic talents and creativity with these cards! At the very top right of the card, crumple up and then glue a round shape of yellow moss to denote the "sun". Take the white cotton balls and pull them apart a little so they can be used as the "clouds" drifting across the blue sky. Glue these in place. Now, if you want, you can draw some tiny fish on the extra construction paper, cut them out, and glue into the "water" area, just for fun.
