The NEDRA (National Electric Drag Racing Association) is a young three year old group running electic vehicles on the strip. NEDRA Membership Director Dean Grannes advises me they are small but growing. This year the NEDRA has four events:Phoenix in March, Denver in May, Woodburn,OR in August and Sacremento in October. With my limited budget, I am unable to travel that far west(I'm in Atlanta) but would much welcome comments and stories from anyone who sees or have seen the Redi Kilowats of the quarter mile blast silently toward a finish. The link for the NEDRA is in my list, check it out.
In NHRA news this week, John Force is debuting a third Funny Car. With all of the other teams checking out the second car team concept of course John wants to go one step further. Right now the car is theoretically a test car for future concepts but John wants NHRA officials to be prepared for someone to run it. A possible back up car in the event of a major damage run or testing for future drivers. NHRA reports John may be leaning towards Tommy Johnson, Jr. In this reporters mind, there is an outside chance that John wants Angelle Seeling to try it out and get a taste of 300 mph madness. John has wanted Angelle on his team for sometime now to grab the reines of a T/F rail. And finally the sportsman category took a step forward this week. ESPN2 will be broadcasting thirteen national NHRA events this season within three weeks of the run. Not exactly live but at least they are getting some badly needed exposure. Some of the old time fans don't realize there are still old Gassers, Anglias, Willys and T Buckets among those sportsman classes. Watch for me at the B&M Speed Parts Race at Atlanta Dragway March 17-19. I'll be wearing a t-shirt that says "suite101.com a suite place for weekly drag racing news". Come up and say hi and I'll acknowledge you in my column. Studie Go To Page: 1
