Major Sponsor pulls rug out from champion


In an act that represents bad business ethics, Exide withdrew their sponsorship from Tony Schumacher on Jan 9. Citing a decreased racing budget, Exide announced that they were withdrawing from NHRA sponsorship where they had sponsored this years Top Fuel Champion to go instead with The Rousch Racing team of NASCAR. Reasoning: More TV coverage.

This is what I was talking about earlier when I said it was about time the NHRA decided to put more into Public Relations. I only hope that there is time. Why pull your sponsorship from a champion? Because not enough people see him. Fortunately, the NHRA has a TV Contract but of course it is not with a major network. Only time will tell folks. Keep your fingers crossed.
