Early Christmas for Johnson Pro Stock Team


Happy Holidays all. Santa Studie here to give you a few short facts this week. Christmas may have come very early for father/son pro stock team Warren and Kurt Johnson.

Very diligent in testing and tuning the Johnson team was recently seen at Montgomery Motor Sports Park in Montgomery, AL. Just testing his Camaro, Kurt turned in 6.77 and a 6.80 back to back E.T.s. Had this been a sanctioned event, Kurt would have had a new world record in Pro Stock. According to Warren, it was mainly because atmospheric and track conditions were ideal but if I were a pro team, I would worry that the Johnsons make take it all home again this year.

Sixty-three year old Texas top fuel dragster driver Eddie Hill lost his sponsor Pennzoil. Although Eddie and wife Ercie have been popular icons on the circuit for years, the win light has not been there much for the team lately. Toward the end of last season after notification that he would be sponsorless at the end of his season, Eddie began blowing up motors while on the track. At Houston one engine blew so violently that the concussion fractured a vertebrae in his lower back. Keep your fingers crossed that Eddie makes it back because he is one of the good guys.

I really don't know who is reading my column yet. I am assuming that if you have come here that you at least know what a drag race is. If you have never been to a professional run, I highly recommend it. There is no more exciting motorsport to me than drag racing. This week I want to talk about who can drag race and what you can drag race.

1) Who can drag race? The answer is anyone who has a drivers license or who can prove that they can drive safely enough to get down the strip at speeds capable of the vehicle they are driving, can race. i.e.
