Review of the week:
COVERDALE DAVID - Into The Light / EMI
I have to admit that I am a great fan of David Coverdale and that I was somehow disappointed with his latest releases. Well things have changed, thankfully. At last David Coverdale releases a good album. He got rid of the Whitesnake name and all the restrictions that name held and is attempting a journey back to his rock roots. A journey back to his roots of rock, hard rock and blues influenced music, without any American Pop metal and Poser metal influences. It's obvious that this is what he likes to do and this is what he does better than anything else. It's an album that will certainly please all his old fans and everyone who appreciates good rock music. Of course there are a few ballads in the album but there are also some ass kicking hard rocking tunes that will remind to many his older days, when Whitesnake were a hard rock band. Plus the ballads are influenced by blues music, they have this certain mood and feeling, that was not present lately. His voice is as emotional as always, coloring the songs with the appropriate feelings and proving that David will always be a great singer. Being an old fan I am certainly happy with this album. It couldn't be better. Thank god, not everything is lost and there are still good rock singers around.
