Weekly NewsTape of Doom/Death Music (November, 1)

Review of the week:

THEATER OF TRAGEDY - Musique / Nuclear Blast

The new album of Theater Of Tragedy will certainly divide their fans right in the middle. There's gonna be those who like progression and change of style and those who will be disappointed since they prefer for a band to stick to it's roots. One thing is for sure. This album is no easy listening for either group. They have changed their style once more, keeping some of the elements from "Aegis" and adding many more. They are still quite an atmospheric band, but this time the music is more electronic, even with a few industrial elements in their sound. Under the surface there's still a lot of melody and atmosphere but the sound is more old fashioned, reminding me of some 80s pop bands. In order to fully appreciate the album you have to let it grow in you and listen to it at least five or six times. The production is good and it enhances the atmosphere of the album, so you won't find any problems here. After all Theater Of Tragedy have always been a band that loved changes, so the new album could not be the exception. It's not a bad album, but I still prefer their previous one.
