Review of the week:

MIND ODYSSEY - Signs / B. Mind Records

This is not exactly a new album but I just had the chance to listen to it. It was released a few months before and it is the fourth (?) album of the band. What I can easily say is that these guys have improved a lot since their last job. Of course they are still playing Power Metal influenced by the German school of the 80s but they mix some classical elements in their sound, especially in the arrangements that makes the whole album really interesting. Mind Odyssey as they appear in this album exist no more since Victor Smolsky (the guitar player) has already joined Rage and I don't know if they will be able to replace him properly since his seems to be the most important part of their sound. They also have a very good vocalist but what really impresses the listener is the guitar playing. Excellent riffs and even better solos in almost all the songs. The melodies are also good and the compositions, even though they can be described as typical power metal, are far better than their previous album and far more fresh. You can also find some interesting passages from the keyboards that help the band to add the required atmosphere to their music. If you are looking for a god power metal album then we suggest you give it a try.
