The news are poor concerning concerts. It's Summer and all the agencies are still trying to book some bands for the forthcoming season. What we have confirmed is IRON MAIDEN at October 1st at Peristeri Football stadium. Somehow confirmed are GAMMA RAY to play in Greece in October and NIGHTFALL after their successful appearance in Rockwave Festival will headline their own show (with SADISTIC NOISE as the support band) in September at Rodon Club.
Chuck Schuldiner (DEATH, CONTROL DENIED) has some serious health problems. The man has brain stem tumor and he is receiving treatment (radiation therapy among other things). The reports are saying that the treatment is going out well. We just hope the best for him.
ARCANUM have cancelled the recording of their new album. No reason has been given for this so far. The band will still record at James Murphy's studio sometime during 2000.
Damon Bloodstorm of ABOMINATOR (bass and vocals) was involved in a head to head collision with his car and ended up in the losing side. Thankfully this only left him with a bruised arm that will keep him out of business for a few weeks.
Review of the week:
TIAMAT - Skeleton - Skeletron / Century Media
This is the ninth album of the band so far (after two years of silence) and once more they change a little their style, exploring new dimensions and surprising us once more. They have enriched their music with a lot Goth elements, but yet they manage to keep their melodic and atmospheric parts combined with some more aggressive moments. A strange mix some might say and we will agree. But it works fine so who cares ? Not me of course. The album is somehow colder than their previous albums (maybe because they moved from the woodlands of Sweden to the big city of Dortmund), but as their previous albums it unveils all it's glory only when heard carefully and as a whole. BTW their cover on Rolling Stone's "Sympathy For The Devil" is a completely fresh and new approach to the song. Worth your attention.
