- SATYRICON have released an EP called "Megiddo". It has a trip-hop (!!!) remix, a re-recording, a live track and a cover of "Orgasmotron". However, Satyr ststed that this has nothing to do with the bands overall sound. The next full-length is expected in early '98.
- DARK FUNERAL will have a new album out by the end of '97. It'll be called "Blood Freezing Satanic Symphonies" and will feature their new line-up. Expect more ultra-fast black metal workouts to be heard under the dying sun.
- PARADISE LOST will have a new album soon; it's called "Intravenous". Apparentely the band has decided not write any up-tempo songs anymore; oh well...
- DEICIDE will record a new album by the nd of this year. It'll be the last album produced by Scott Burns who's quiting the recording business. Good luck Scott!
- XYTRAS. Samael's main songwriter Xy will release his first solo album. Xy has re-arranged all of the songs from Samael's latest album Passage in a classic version (Piano, cello, and violins). This defintely shows that Samael is one of the most creative, influential bands of the '90s. XYTRAS? version of Passage was produced and mixed by Dave Richards in the Mountain Studio, Montreux, Switzerland. Richards is also well know for producing Mega Acts like Queen and David Bowie. The classic interpretation of Passage will be released on the 2nd of February.
- NOCTURNAL RITES. This Swedish Power Metal outfit will release their CM debut album on the 23rd of February (the band's second album overall). The band from the polar circle is the most hopeful power metal newcomer for all of '98. Any fans of vintage power metal should dust off the plate mail and prepare to watch the "hammer fall" on a whole new era. Witness the next breakthrough band from the label that brought you Iced Earth, Nevermore and Jag Panzer...metal ubes alles!
- LACUNA COIL. The Italian hopefuls have just finished their successful first tour with labelmates Moonspell. The band will release their debut mini-album Lacuna Coil on the 26th of January. LACUNA COIL will be touring Europe in the next month as support of various bands, and many of you may be familiar with the band's rapturous female vocals and a heavier musical edge from their demo track on the Darkness We Feel CD which comes packaged free in the new Rotting Christ disc, A Dead Poem. Watch out for details!
