Since Dobermans originated from scent and sight hounds, both their olfactory and optical senses are keen. Their bright brown eyes will follow every move you make until the dogs relax (“half-mast” tail) and trust you.
While owners may not agree on docking, the procedure is not cosmetic only. By docking the tails of Doberman puppies, owners are preventing possible painful complications.
