What is diversity and how does that relate to education?

Diverse - Distinct in kind; unlike. Having variety in form; diversified.

Diversify - to make diverse; vary. To spread out activities or investments.

Diversity - The fact or quality of being diverse; difference. Variety; multiformity.

If we teach, like we learn best, then what will the outcome be for the students that learn differently from the way we do? The best lessons are generally the ones that have elements that meet each student's needs. Sound impossible? Not really. Read on.

Variety is the spice of life! Ever heard that statement used before? One of the spicy ingredients used in effective teaching is creativity and multiformity. Multiformity requires innovation and knowledge, combined with creativity.

Do you struggle sometime with teens that want so badly to "fit-in", yet feel the need to retain a defiance toward doing so, for fear they will lose their individuality?

If so, let's begin a journey together. Our next step may be the very step that places us at the top of the hill, bringing into view those strategies we've been seeking to reach a struggling student.

Who is Howard Gardner?

In 1983, he published his ground-breaking "Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences." In this book, Gardner holds that every human possesses several distinct intellectual faculties (rather than a singe trait called "intelligence"), each with its own way of developing and operating.
