Sexy Seniors

Let's be honest here. Online we're whoever we want to be, whenever we want to be it. Take my bio for example. In it I've said I'm a 20-something guy...but who's to say I'm not a 48 year old housewife posing as the uber-demographic of silicon smarts? I mean, most know-it-alls in the computer field are younger males, so why shouldn't I be? If it makes you think I might know more than I do, why not use the image to my advantage? That's one too many question, I realize. Just for the record though, I really am a twenty-something male.

So getting to the point, watch out for those Sexy Seniors masquarading as whipper snappers. There's already too much competition out there without them getting in on the mix. OK, the point here is really to get the word out about SeniorNet: www.seniornet.org, which is a nonprofit source of education and information about the Internet for the 50+ crowd. Seriously, it's really a great resource for this age learner, offering a link to former Surgeon General Dr. Koop's Healthy Aging Site, a WWII Living Memorial, an Investing Education Center, sponsored by Charles Schwab, and much more. Even the Washington Post agrees, saying, "SeniorNet is based on the concept that older people are not averse to using new technology, just unfamiliar with it. And once they have access to the new tools and the knowledge of how to use them, technology can enrich their lives."

Hey, if your feeling a little self-conscious about all this "Senior talk", don't take it too personally. You can always pass it along to your parents, grandparents, or great aunts and uncles. Trust me, they'll hold on to it for you.
