Another article, another resource for you dear reader. Blackboard.com is the best service I've found lately and the really good news is that it will benefit you whether you're a student or a teacher.
Blackboard's Universal Learning Solutions (ULS) makes entry into the online classroom easy and compatible with whatever your needs may be. ULS gives you the choice of single or multiple course sites, or access to an entire "online campus" of courses. The decision depends only on your needs and can be expanded as those needs change. Whether you need just one site or a series, the service is FREE. Blackboard.com is part of Blackboard Inc., which develops educational software that allows large organizations to tailor the same technology under an annual licensing fee. In turn, this is what allows Blackboard.com to operate at no cost to the individual. Students are at an equal advantage with their teachers, using Blackboard's online tutorials, messaging system, work groups, real-time chats, and threaded discussions.
