St. Patrick is Polish

First, let me preface this by saying that I have students read this and then create a picture to go with it. We discuss the fact that it is a humorous piece not intended to upset anyone in our currently over PC world. We look at Irish symbols and at Polish trees of life and then read the poem together. At that point the students are turned loose to illustrate the poem.

St Patrick is Polish by Colleen Madonna Flood Williams

St. Patrick is Polish states the new rumor formed by someone with an odd sense of humor this odd humored fellow just lately has said instead of green, St. Patrick wore red Has St. Pat lost his brogue and developed an accent from Irish folklore will he be absent? The stealing of Ireland's hero 'tis a real shame and somehow there's now way we'll get used to the name: St. Paderewski!
