1. What do you believe has been your single most important contribution to Art Education? Building bridges between contemporary art education theory and practice. Providing hundreds of professional educators with the tools they need to include comprehensive art education programs in schools for all students.

2. As an Artist, what has been your most important contribution to the Art world? Passion and a love for the arts.

3. What personal purpose does Art serve in your life? Art-all of the arts, bring tremendous joy to my life and my family.The arts and the aesthetic experiences that they provoke, are the most exciting and stimulating part of every day.

4. What professional purpose does Art serve in your life? I am indeed fortunate to have worked with so many wonderful art educators, artists, and other scholars who have contributed to my professional role as an art educator. My career is devoted to understanding and promoting the role of the arts in learning.

5. Please list your credentials so that I post them correctly! 25 years as art educator, K-12 and college BS, MS. and Ph.D. in Art Education Certifications: K-12 and Principal Completed dissertation at the Getty Center for Education in the Arts

6. What artist do you most admire? What is your favorite artwork? Now that is impossible to answer. I admire all artists-those who are dedicated to art, enjoy working, and have vitality and respect for the creative process.

7. As a mother, what do you want for your girls to gain from their exposure to the visual arts? I want my children-and indeed all children to have so much more then exposure to the visual arts. I want to provide them with many opportunities for creating art and enjoying the creative process. I want them to have the benefits of comprehensive art education so they will be able to read the images, understand the meaning beyond the surface, and understand the joy of the aesthetic experience.

8.As a teacher, what do you want your students to gain from their exposure to the visual arts? Once again, education in any of the arts is so much more then exposure. I would hope that my students learn that every idea, feeling and event that civilization has ever conceived of-is recorded in the arts.I would hope that my students gain the skills need to be able to "read" the art images and gain access to a tremendous wealth of information. I am talking about becoming "Visually Literate".

9. Why do you believe so strongly in DBAE? What is it about this teaching method that appeals to you so strongly? DBAE provides a foundation
