His studies indicate that children who do not stretch their musical muscles before the age of seven may actually lose the ability to achieve perfect pitch. Therefore, it is important for parents to sing with their children and to encourage their children to sing. Dr. Schlaug's studies have shown that musical individuals, who achieve perfect pitch, have differently shaped and sized brains than those who cannot achieve perfect pitch. These changes develop prior to the age of seven, his studies suggest. Studies of the College Entrance Examination Board's past figures indicate some amazing benefits of Music Education. Students who are enrolled in four years of Music Education scored 100 points higher on their SATs than did students who were nonmusical. USA today has reported that preschoolers' IQ scores in spatial testing areas were raised an average of 46 percent with only eight months of Music Education added to their daily curriculums. Music is one of life's greatest pleasures. Parents should teach their children to perceive each musical composition has a work of art. Some pieces are better than others. We all have our own individual tastes. However, unless we expose our children to the wonderful world of music, then they can not refine their own tastes. The benefits of Music Education have been proven. The joys of Music Education are inherent. Turn your child onto Music Education today!
