Informed voting does not mean that we allow ourselves to go into the booth and pull a lever with blind folds on. Informed voting does not mean that we vote for a candidate based upon his speeches. Informed voting means that we have done our homework; we have learned what a particular candidates past voting record is. We know how he is likely to vote on conservative issues as well as liberal issues. We need open minded people who vote for change when change is shown to be necessary. Change for us is necessary because it is the only way that we can insure that a majority of us may once again become productive citizens.
If our research indicates that a candidate is against change then we should vote against him. Conservative voting habits will not insure that change will come in the status quo. Conservative voting habits will only insure that the status quo remains stagnant. A stagnant status quo will not help us because what is needed is change. Therefore it is a must that we know a candidates past voting record because it is a good indicator as to how he/she will vote on issues concerning disability.
