The Disabled must become a unified group

The Disabled must organize like the Labor Movement did early in the Twentieth Century.

Why should we organize? The answer is simple a group is a whole and if you remember your geometry; the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In voting terms this means that we would be the biggest voting block which the world or a country has ever seen.

How would organizing help the disabled? Presently we are fragmented into many disability groups who only advocate for their particular disability thus keeping the disability movement fragmented. This fragmentation keeps us from being heard or even listened to by politicians, parties and governments. However if we were to organize into one gigantic voting block them politicians, parties, and governments could not afford to ignore our needs. Instead they would do everything in their power to help us since our voting power could either make them or break them.

I live in a country with a population which exceeds Three Hundred Million and whose disabled population is estimated to exceed Sixty Million. One day I took this Sixty Million and hypothetically united them into one group just to see what their united voting power would be. To my surprise I discovered that their voting power would far surpass the entire population of my country.

Here is what I discovered the 60 million disabled voters usually have 2 parents. Each parent has 2 parents, for a total of 4 grandparents. Each grandparent may have 1 living parent or 2 great grandparents. Then there are aunts, uncles, and great aunts and uncles; if only two on each side the total would be 8 uncles and aunts. Finally each disabled individual has brothers and sisters. Here for arguments sake say only one of each for a total of 2 brothers or sisters. Therefore the aggregate voting power of this hypothetically united group is One Billion One Hundred Forty Million Voters or almost four times the population of my country.

Here is how it broke down. 60 million disabled voters have 2 parents-120 million voters-4 grandparents-a possible 240 million voters- 2 great grandparent-maybe- a possible 120 million voters, numerous aunts and uncles, if only 2 sets on each side the sum is 8 or another 480 million voters. Each disabled individual has brothers and sisters;if only 2 of voting age would equal another 120 Million voters. 60 million+120million+240million+120million+480 million+120million=One Billion One Hundred Forty Million possible voters.

So you see if the disabled were to unite and become like the three Musketeers-one all for and all for one- then politicians, parties, and governments would not ignore us and we could most likely be the greatest group advocating for social change that the world has ever seen.
