We all should be informed voters especially the disabled and other minority groups

People should be informed voters before they cast their votes.

Every four years my country undergoes a process of selecting a new leader, but before this both parties bombard us with all sorts political promises many of which they have no intention of implementing. We are bombarded, assailed, and assaulted by rhetoric which says vote for me because not vote for me because I will change the status quo. We, the voters, never hear what each candidate will do to change the status quo for the better. Instead we hear one party telling us to vote for it because they are the party of mom and apple pie or the party of traditional values and they expect us to believe that we should vote for them because of these. Then we have the other party which has been labeled the party of tax and spend liberals by the party of apple pie and mom. What have we learned? That Conservatism is good and Liberalism is not good. Neither party has said how they will change the status quo to make it better for all the citizens? We haven't heard this because, the party of apple pie and mom opposes any type of change and the other appears afraid to propose new programs for fear of adding fuel to their opponents accusations that they are tax and spend liberals. So far we have heard vote for me because I won't do anything to raise your taxes or vote for me because I'm from the party of mom and apple pie. We have only heard vote for me because I'm better for the country either because I'm a conservative or because my ideas are better than my opponents. So we have to choose among promises and decide which one sounds better than the other.

What we should be doing is educating ourselves on the philosophies of both parties. We should never vote for the individual based upon promises because they can be broken or forgotten after the election. If you vote because of promises made then you may find that you are being disappointed especially if these promises run contrary to a parties philosophy.

If you are a disabled individual or a member of a minority, then it is imperative that you know the philosophy of the party for which you vote. If you don't know this then you may discover that voted for a party whose philosophy may be harmful to your needs.
