Just over a year ago while browsing around some of my favourite Internet haunts I was approached by Suite101 to consider writing Suite101 Disabilities. At the time I honestly didn't view myself as a writer and discounted it immediately. It wasn't until the staff at Suite101, and a few sweet friends hounded me over a period of two months that I reconsidered and took on the role as the Disability editor here at Suite101.
I figured I'd embarrass myself for a few months until someone realized I wasn't really what they were looking for. Surprise! Surprise! It's been a year and look who's still here! :) Suite101 Disabilities is a year-old gang (actual anniversary date was May 29th) so I thought I'd overview what I've accomplished here during the past year. I've attempted to give you a wide cross section of articles ranging in topics from Snake Oil Peddlers, Adaptive and Chat software, how to distinguish good medical sites from bad ones, the Casey Martin Disability Case against the PGA, Disability Talk Radio, Human Drug Testing, Adaptive Aids, Parenthood and Sex to name a few! If you've missed any of these previous articles they are still available, just click on the ARTICLES link on the left hand side of the page to view past articles. It's always good to reflect upon what you've accomplished. Personally I tried to bring you a diverse selection of information, something you might not have looked for on the net but when you read it here you felt informed and gained something from the experience. I've also attempted to gear my articles to both the net newbie and the veteran alike. I hope I've been successful in my attempts to educate and empower and make your net experience more enjoyable. Now I have a quest for you! :) Am I fulfilling your needs? Are there topics that you would like to see covered? Am I giving you the cross section you want to hear about? Please bear in mind that Suite101 Disabilities is a general topic not specific to any one precise disability. I am hoping that by asking you....my readers...what you'd like to hear about that I be able to make your Suite101 Disabilities experience even better in the future. After reviewing my previous articles I have noticed that at times I have made it difficult for you to participate in a discussion about the articles. For that I apologize. Chalk it up to inexperience on my part and I'll certainly try to improve in that area in the future. :) If you see me slipping into that old habit like an old shoe you have my permission to give me a reminder. :) Go To Page: 1 2
