Let’s face it; whenever the government becomes involved you know right off the bat things will have a way of being complex and difficult to understand. I know this, you know this and finally now the government knows this.
Recently I discovered an excellent site that explains the American Social Security System and how it relates to women specifically. Social Security for Woman is an excellent site well worth exploring. It doesn’t matter if you are disabled, a new mom, a widow or a bride. Here is a site that covers all the in’s and out’s of the Social Security system. Maybe you’ve lost your Medicare card? This site will help you request a new one. You’re looking for Indexed Cost of Living information so you can plan your retirement? This site has that information as well. Need to plan or calculate your pension? They have several tools available to help you with that task. You got married and need to change your name on your social security card? This site can assist you. You’d like to obtain a Social Security Statement to determine what benefits you might be entitled to? You can apply online at this site for this file and when you receive this vital information and have questions this site can provide you with the follow up you require. Possibly you are already on Social Security and would like to know when you will receive your Consumer Price Index Fix (July if you were wondering). This website will keep your abreast of any changes you might face while receiving your Social Security. Fortunately the American Government realizes that it is important to develop sites specific to a demographic. They have plans in the future to develop additional sites specific to families, those with disabilities, and for employers. These new “portals” will be important to citizens searching for this type of information and a welcome relief from the usual voice mail from hell approach we usually see with government information exchange. Kudos to the American Government for realizing the importance of compiling demographic specific portals! By implementing such a project they have saved a lot of us, a lot of homework searching for the information we need to apply for services we might be entitled to. Suite 101 Disability Mailing List For those of you who need a gentle reminder when a new article is posted, or would like to be notified when a new link is put up, I have developed a notification e-mail list which would have you receiving three to four more e-mails a month. If you want to be put on this mailing list, just click on my EMAIL link at the top of this page and drop me a line with your e-mail address and I would be happy to add you. You don't have to be a member of Suite101 for this service. Go To Page: 1 2
