Once before I delved into the difficulties that many of us face getting our prescriptions filled. It can be a daunting task; do you pay for those much-needed medications, or put food on the table? For some of you I realize that is exactly the decision you must make!
Previously I mentioned the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturer’s of America site, which is still an excellent resource website that any person with a chronic medical condition should have bookmarked. However, there is a new resource kid on the block. Needy Meds.com is an excellent companion website that is a little more straightforward to use for most Internet users. Libby Overly, a social worker and Rich Sagall, a medical doctor have researched all the Pharmaceutical companies and compiled a comprehensive website that covers as many Drug Assistance programs they could find. Much like a central clearing house for these programs, describing which requirements, forms or special procedures you must gather to qualify for assistance. Look up your medication by clicking the “Drug List” page, once you’ve found your drug it will explain in detail how that specific drug program operates in relation to your specific medication. It will detail if you, as the consumer can apply for the program directly, or if your doctor will have to submit forms on your behalf. It will also explain how long you may avail yourself of the program, some of which are unlimited. If you can’t find your specific medication listed? Check the “Company List” page, which gives a list of pharmaceutical companies that do have Drug Assistance programs. Unfortunately not all Companies participate and/or develop Assistance programs and some companies do not include all medications they might manufacture. This site also has Links to several Drug resources where you can look up information such as side effects you may want to check on. All in all it is an excellent one-stop drug information resource station. One that I hope you will book mark for future reference, you never know when this information will come in handy. Hopefully it will provide you with the information you need to solve that difficult dilemma, do I take my medications………. or have dinner! Suite 101 Disability Mailing List For those of you who need a gentle reminder when a new article is posted, or would like to be notified when a new link is put up, I have developed a notification e-mail list which would have you receiving three to four more e-mails a month. If you want to be put on this mailing list, just click on my EMAIL link at the top of this page and drop me a line with your e-mail address and I would be happy to add you. You don't have to be a member of Suite101 for this service. Go To Page: 1 2
