In Sickness & In Health

With Valentine's Day just around the corner I thought it would be a good exercise to remind ourselves of the compassion, caring and companionship our significant others provide to enrich our lives. Sometimes we have to take a step back to really see the roses in our midst.

Not everyone who has a loved one that faces a serious medical condition or disability can cope with the demands they may face, but the one's that do certainly deserve recognition. They are the unsung hero's that can make an immense difference in the way we face life. They tend to travel as difficult a road as we do ourselves.

They are the ones that we share our trials and tribulations with, they are also there when we make the gain's that we work so hard for. They attempt to buffer us from our hardships and rejoice when we elevate ourselves above those same difficulties. They are our champions, sitting by our side when we need that extra push to get over the latest bump in the road.

They know that what we have to face together is a twenty-four hour job with no time off for vacations or good behaviour. Sometimes they go without the simple things just because it's not possible to have them. They don't complain, they know it's not "your fault".

Without these loved ones our lives would be very different, we owe them so much, for without them we would be missing a quality of love that very few people have had the experience to share. I suspect they feel the same way in return.

So on the 14th of this month take a little time to be with your loved one and show them how wonderful they are and how special they make your life.
