Want to lose weight, get in shape, and/or magically resemble Cindy Crawford or Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Turn on your computer and you can probably find an Internet site that promises all that and more -- in less than 24 hours. However, before you swallow (literally!) that online White-Vinegar-And-Kelp diet remedy, consider these guidelines: Check out the list of contributors or site creators: are health or fitness professionals involved? Or was the site created and maintained by a Get-Rich-Over-Night-Web-Guy, who cares only about making money -- not your health. Don't follow any advice, regardless of the source, without consulting your doctor. Your body's mileage may vary. So even if it's a certified aerobics expert who's created an animation showing how to hop, skip, and leap your way to fitness, check with your physician to make sure you're in shape for that kind of workout. With that in mind, here are some of my favorite fitness sites: The Shape Up America! Web site has a Fitness Center filled with fitness assessment tools, tips on eating for energy, and an FAQ section that answers such frequently asked questions as: "If I start a strength training program, how long will it be before I see a change in my strength?" http://www.shapeup.org/fitness/index.htm FitnessLink describes itself as having "All the News That's Fit," and it's an accurate description.
