Let's Have a Drink

Summer is coming! Summer is coming!

Well, guess it's time for some cool, refreshing drinks. Some of the recipes I have found do NOT have the nutritional analysis or diabetic exchanges. I'm using them any way, as they sound oh so good. So, if you make these, make sure to keep an eye on the ingredients. You know what you can and can not have.

Fruit Punch
(12 servings-1/2 cup each)

  • 2 c Unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 3/4 c Club soda; chilled
  • 2 c Cranberry juice cocktail
  • 3/4 c Orange juice; chilled
  • Ice Cubes
  • Lime Slices

Combine the chilled ingredients in a punch bowl just before serving. Garnish with lime slices.

Coming from Georgia, the Peach State, and the South in general, where ice tea is the main beverage of choice, I thought this would be a good recipe to include. Enjoy!

Peach Ice Tea
(4 servings)

  • 4 Regular tea bags
  • 3 ts Peach syrup, such as Monin
  • Artificial Sweetener

Brew tea. Sweeten to taste. Let cool. Add flavoring and ice.

Here's a good sweet one. Who doesn't like milkshakes?!?!?

BANANA MILKSHAKE

  • 1 banana, completely frozen
  • 3/4 cup 1% milk
  • fresh ground nutmeg to taste
  • 1 packet Equal® ( NutraSweet® as sweet as 2 teaspoons sugar)

Thoroughly purée all ingredients in a blender or food-processor. Serve immediately. Makes one portion.

Well, hope these drinks help cool you off on a hot summer day. See you next week.
