The Speckled Band by Arthur Conan Doyle was quite interesting. Once I started reading the story, it was difficult to put down.

A woman named Helen Stoner came to see Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. She was quite upset because of the events that were happening to her and her sister. They lived with their stepfather at Stoke Moran. Her sister died two years before of a mysterious death. Before her sister died, she mumbled some words about a Speckled Band. Earlier, she told Helen that she had been hearing whistling sounds.

After hearing the story, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson told her that they wanted to come to Stoke Moran and investigate the room. She was happy that they would be coming to help her out. Shortly after she left, they had another visitor. It was Dr. Grimesby Roylot. He was the stepfather. He had been following Helen and knew that she had come to see him. Dr. Roylot was a very evil man and very blunt. He insisted that Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson stay out of his affairs. He wanted to know what Helen had been telling them. However, Sherlock Holmes wasn't about to reveal his private conversation with Helen. He kept changing the subject. This made Dr. Roylot even more angry. However, he left and warned them to stay away. That didn't stop Sherlock. He wanted to find out what was happening out Stoke Moran.

That afternoon, they arrived at Stoke Moran to begin their investigation. They were greeted by Helen. She was pleased that they decided to come and help her out. They also told her of their unexpected visitor. That upset her because she didn't want to have her stepfather following her around.

Here are some questions for you to think about: What happened during their investigation? Who was the villain? What happened to him? You'll have to read the story to find out. I recommend this story to anyone who is interested in detective fiction as well as a fan of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. You'll find this story quite intriguing.
