"Where's Julie's Mother?"

Detective Mallory was called to investigate the following case. Can you help him solve the story plot? Something has happened to Julie's mother.

Julie was in the second grade. After her parents were divorced, her mother always took her to school and picked her up. She loved Julie and wanted to spend time with her as much as possible. She was also protective of her and didn't want anyone else to pick up Julie. She wanted to provide the things Julie wanted and needed. However, things started to change for Julie's mother. She became depressed because of her financial situation. Since she wanted the best for Julie, she knew what she needed to do. She also didn't let Julie know of her financial problems because she didn't want to upset her.

On the way to school one day Julie noticed that her mother seemed depressed. Her mother told Julie that she would call the school and let her know when and who would pick her up. During the day, Julie looked forward to hearing from her mother. She did her school work and enjoyed the special activities that her teacher had planned for the day. However, when school was out, Julie's attitude changed. She became depressed and wondered why her mother had not called like she said she would.

Julie's teacher tried to call her mother, but the phone was disconnected. Her teacher said, "Julie, your phone has been disconnected, so that's probably why your mother couldn't call us. Let's go outside. I bet she's waiting there for you."

They walked outside, but Julie's mother wasn't there. They waited for awhile, and nobody came for Julie. "Julie, let's go inside and try another number that your mother gave us. She might be there and just delayed."

They walked back inside to call the other number that her mother gave them in case of an emergency, but nobody was home. Julie sat down and cried. She wanted to go home like the rest of the children. Julie asked herself,"What had happened to her mother? Where was she? Was she hurt?"

"Julie, I know you are upset, but I'm sure your mother or somebody will be here soon," her teacher said.

An hour had passed an Julie's mother still hadn't come. "Where's Mommy?" Julie asked.

"Julie, I'm not sure. I have an idea. Why don't we go to your house and see if she is there?"
