This is the solution to last week's quiz titled "Breaking the Code."

Each letter of the alphabet was assigned a number. The numbers started with A being 26 and B being 25 and so on until you reached Z being number 1.

6. Mary Roberts Rinehart wrote the short story titled "The Splinter" as well as several books.

7. Mary Higgins Clark wrote "A Cry In The Night" as well as others.

8. Raymond Chandler wrote the short story, "The Pencil" and other short stories and books.

9. Hercule Poirot is Agatha Christie's famous male detective.

10. Edgar Allan Poe wrote "The Murders in the Rue Morgue."
