Book Review of "The Case of the Hook-Billed Kites"

This is a book review of "The Case of the Hook-Billed Kites" by J. S. Borthwick. A group of people, who were bird watchers from different bird watching clubs, came together in Texas. Philip Lentz invited his girl friend, Sarah Deane, to come to Texas for a bird watching expedition and to spend time together. Sarah Deane, who was in graduate school in Boston, decided to join Philip in Texas even though she wasn't that interested in bird watching. However, when she arrived in Texas, she found out that Philip was murdered. He was strangled with his binoculars when he was out looking for birds. Sarah became depressed, but she wanted to help Dr. Alex McKenzie solve the case. She wanted him to teach her how to search for evidence and solve cases. The author reveals different types of birds as well as information about Texas. One thing that is included in this book, which I don't usually find in many books, is a list of the characters, and their occupations or the tour groups they are with. Having a list of characters at the beginning of the book does help to know the characters and what group they are with or what they do. Some questions to think about while reading the book are the following: Who murdered Philip and why? Is the killer a member of the tour groups, or is the killer some stranger? What is the purpose of the sightings of the hook-billed kites? Why was Philip so interested in locating the hook-billed kites? What will happen to Sarah Deane? I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspense book and is interested in nature, especially bird watching. This book contains 245 pages and 72 chapters, so you can tell, the chapters are short.
