Book Review of "The Unexpected Guest" by Agatha Christie

"The Unexpected Guest" by Agatha Christie

This is another great book by Agatha Christie. It is about a woman named Laura Warwick and her husband who was murdered. An unexpected guest appears one night and finds Laura holding a gun. She tells him that she just shot and killed her husband. He tells Laura that his name is Michael Starkwedder and that his car was stuck in a ditch. He also tells her that he saw the house and came up there so he could use the phone. She wanted him to call the police. However, he decided that she should wait until he figures out something. The suspense starts to build when he decides to not call the police and tries to figure out a way to protect her. He starts asking Laura about any enemies her husband may have had. She tells him about a couple of incidents where people were his enemies. He decides to use this one man who is supposed to be in Canada. Then, he starts wiping away the fingerprints and any other evidence that would lead the police to believe Laura killed her husband. This is a great book for anyone who loves suspense or Detective Fiction. It is a quick read because the print is larger than most of her books. The chapters are not long either. The book consists of 21 chapters and 258 pages. It is easy to read and understand. Once I started reading the book, I had a hard time putting it down. I wanted to keep reading until I found out why Starkwedder came to the Warwick's house and became involved in Laura's problem. Now, you'll have to read the book to find out why Starkwedder came to a strange house and became involved in a murder case.
