Great Sites for Suspense and Detective Fiction


Recently, I found several sites for Detective Fiction and Suspense books. There are a lot of great books written for Suspense and Detective Fiction readers. If you are an avid reader of Detective Fiction and Suspense stories and books, then you need to take a look at the following sites. I have found these sites to be an excellent source of Suspense and Detective Ficiton books. "Joe's Detective Pages, "which is at http:// www.lofgreen.com/detect.htm, lists his top ten favorites. They are "A Dance at the Slaughterhouse" by Lawrence Block, "Called by a Panther" by Michael Z. Lewin, "You Get What You Pay For" by Larry Beinhart, "Killer on the Road" by James Ellroy, "Heaven's Prisoners" by James Lee Burke, "Eyes of Prey" by John Sandford, "Drowned Hopes" by Donald Westlake, "Strega" by Andrew Vachss, "La Brava" by Elmore Leonard, and "A Catskill Eagle" by Robert B. Parker. Also on "Joe's Detective Pages," he lists his top five classic novels. They include, "Lady in the Lake" by Raymond Chandler, "The Maltese Falcon" by Dashiell Hammett, "The Blue Hammer" by Ross MacDonald, "The Green Ripper" by John D. MacDonald, and "The Postman Always Rings Twice" by James M. Cain. As far as the classics go, I have read some books and some short stories by Raymond Chandler. I have enjoyed Chandler's books and short stories. I also have "Lady in the Lake" but have not read it yet. I have the book, "The Maltese Falcon" by Dashiell Hammett, but I haven't read it yet. Another site for Suspense and Detective Fiction is "Cozies, Capers & Crimes," which is located at the following website: http://www.idsonline.com/userweb/cwilson... Geraldine Galentree, who is the Editor, has a list of favorite authors or sleuths that librarians usually like to have in their libraries. They include Jeff Abbott, Lawrence Bock, Jo Dereske, John Dunning, Charles Goodrum, Charlaine Harris, Carolyn Hart, Joan Hess, Marianne MacDonald, D. R. Meredith, Mirian Grace Monfredo, Kate Morgan, Sheila Simonson, Marcia Talley, M. K. Wren. She also recommends the book "Detecting Women and Detecting Men" by Willetta L. Heising for other books. Geraldine's favorite books she has read recently include, "Midnight Hour" by Mary Saums, "The Irish Cottage Murder" by Dicey Deere, and "Guns and Roses" by Taffy Cannon. She also lists several other book reviews. "Pulp Detective Stories," which is located at http://www.member.aol.com/MG4273/classic... is another excellent site that lists great writers such as Erle Stanley Garner, Raymond Chandler, Agatha Christie, Dashiell Hammett, Edgar Allen Poe, and others. These are excellent writers of the great Pulp Detective Fiction stories. You will read stories and books that involve these great Detectives: Philip Marlowe, Hercule Poirot, Miss Jane Marple, and others.
