Tim's Big Secret

"Not again! Why is Tim always coming home late? Maybe I should hire Detective Mallory to follow him. I have to find out where he is going every night. He comes home late, and I know he isn't at work. I've got to find out what is going on."

Keri picked up the telephone and called Detective Mallory.

"Detective Mallory, this is Keri Jacobs. I need to talk to you."

"Would you like me to come to your place or do you want to come here?"

"I would appreciate it if you would come here."

"Sure. I'll be there in a half-hour."

When Detective Mallory arrived, Keri greeted him.

"Please come in."

Keri showed him to the living room. "Tell me what's going on, Mrs. Jacobs."

"My husband, Tim, has been coming home late every night. I would like you to follow him. I have to know where he's going every night."

"Do you think he is seeing another woman?"

"No. He loves me. There isn't anyone else."

"If there isn't another woman, then he must be working late."

"He's not at work. I already tried to contact him."

"Where can I contact him?"

"He's difficult to reach at work because he's a newspaper reporter."

"I'll check around and see what I can find out. What time does he come home at night?"

"It varies. Sometimes it's 9 o'clock, and sometimes it's 10."

"I'll park my car down the street and keep an eye out for his car. Do you have a description of him?"

"Yes. Right here."

"Maybe I should start with his work. How can I contact him at work?"

"That's hard to do. Since he's a reporter he works in different places.

"I see. I'll be in touch as soon as I find out anything."

Detective Mallory went to his car and looked at his notes. While looking over his notes, he saw his partner pull up beside him. "Detective Johnson! What are you doing here?"

"I'm on my way to see a woman named Julie. How about coming with me?"

"Sure."

After they arrived at Julie's house, Detective Johnson said, "I just happened to see my partner, so he decided to come with me."

"That's fine."

"How can we help you?" Detective Johnson asked.

"I'm worried about my husband, Tim. He has been leaving the house every Wednesday night at the same time and coming home at the same time."
