This is a book review of "The Mafia Massacre" by
Jennifer Aitken. It was an interesting book. It was about an Italian named Anthony Micelle, who was the son of Danny Micelle. The Micelle family fought against the Russians. They were after Gorvacheck and his men.
The author started out with a brief history of the family. She wrote about Anthony and what he was like when he was younger and as he grew up. This helped readers to understand Anthony. Anthony also had a brother named Mikey, but the author didn't mention anything about him, so readers wouldn't know what he was like. I assumed that Anthony was the protagonist since the author expanded on his background. Another character was their father, Danny. He was the leader of the underground Italian Mafia. The author also wrote a brief description of him. These brief descriptions helped to understand the characters. However, the author mentioned other characters but didn't mention anything about them, especially when they were introduced. For example, in one passage, a character named Angelo was introduced. Danny spoke to him, but the author didn't mention who Angelo was, so it was confusing to be introduced to a character without any background information. Later on, another character named Cynthia was introduced. The author wrote about how Anthony was attracted to her, but the author didn't mention that much about her. At the end of the book, another character was introduced, and this character turned out to be the hero, which was unexpected. Protagonists are the heroes in stories. Characters need to be introduced and described earlier in the book. There shouldn't be a surprise character mentioned at the end of the book. Also, the focus should be on the protagonist and what he is going through. He is the one who is the hero. The author focused on Anthony, whom readers would believe was the protagonist and hero. However, the minor character who was mentioned in the end of the book was the hero. The book would have been more realistic if the author had made Anthony the protagonist at the end of the book. This was one of many problems I found in reading this book. Besides the characters and the description of them in this book, there were other types of problems. For example, there were errors in formatting. Some paragraphs were indented and some were not. Also, there were several typing errors. There were also grammatical errors such as Go To Page: 1 2
