And If He Sees His Shadow Thomas G. Flaherty wanted to see John Francis Cuddy. John arrived at his office, and Thomas invited him to sit down. He gave him a bourbon and took one himself. Then, John proceeded to tell him his story about a monsignor thinks something is going wrong at the seminary. He thinks the seminary is turning out incompetent priests. The monsignor called in three seminarians, one at a time. He asked them about Easter and what it means. The first two didn't know what Easter meant. The third one was heading in the right direction, but then added something that shocked the monsignor. He believed that he was right. He doesn't know what is happening with the seminarians and why they are not being taught the right thing. After that, Tommy began telling John about his problem. He had borrowed money from a shark. As a result, one of the tough guys broke one of Tommy's fingers. Tommy needed John's help. When Tommy had a couple wanting to enter his office to talk about insurance, he had John go out the other door and upstairs to their apartment and spend time with Hildy, Tommy's wife. After Tommy came upstairs, he told John that they could go back down to his office and talk. They sat in the office and Tommy began telling John how he wanted his help. He wanted John to go and talk with the sharks Tommy owes money to. Tommy told him that he had to have his clients come at night because he didn't want them to know he didn't have any help during the day. He also told John that he couldn't borrow any money from a bank because of the way his place looked. John agreed to try and help Tommy. John left Tommy's office and walked by the cemetery where his wife, Beth, was buried and began sharing his problem with her. Then, he left. He went to meet Sergeant Detective Marilyn Alongi. She began telling John about Tedesco, the shark, and his men. Go To Page: 1 2
