Women mystery writers began with Anna Katherine Green. She is known as the Mother of Detective Fiction like Edgar Allan Poe is known as the Father of Detective Fiction. Some of these writers are classic mystery writers such as: Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, Anna Katherine Green, and Dorothy L. Sayers. The contemporary mystery writers are the following: Nevada Barr, Kay Hooper, Sibyl Avery Jackson. There are some authors who are pet lovers such as: Carole Nelson Douglas, Lillian Jackson Braun, Leslie O'Kane, and Shirley R. Murphy.

Classic mystery authors don't use profanity in their books like most contemporary writers. However, I have enjoyed reading books or short stories by these authors. I'm sure you will enjoy reading the short stories and books by these famous authors.
