Do you enjoy mini-mysteries? If you do, you will enjoy this book. Five-Minutes Crimebusters by Stan Smith is an excellent book filled with challenging mini-mysteries.
They are challenging because the clues are so well hidden, but yet they are obvious. I will be discussing three of the mini-mysteries in this article. The Stockbroker's Last Morning, A Model Murder, and An Adventure of the Negative Clue. The Stockbroker's Last Morning This mini-mystery is about Charles Steinberg. He was found dead in his office. A suicide note was found in the typewriter. Inspector Walker and Thomas P. Stanwick, the amateur logician, was called to investigate. When they arrived, they began asking questions. After a few minutes, they realized that it was a murder and not a suicide. They also knew who committed the crime. The characters were Jon Golding, who was the vice president of the firm, Miss Gwynne, the receptionist, and Chales Steinberg. That narrows the list as to who might have committed the crime. The important thing was why and what were the clues that led Walker and Stanwick to the criminal. You will enjoy reading this mini-mystery. A Model Murder This is another excellent mini-mystery. Stanwick and Walker were called to investigate this case as well. This mini-mystery is about Lola Monteray. She was found murdered in her room. Scott Philips is her boy friend. The other character is Thomas Larch, Lola's agent. Someone wanted Lola killed, but why? What motive would they have? Her boy is one suspect. Why would he want her killed? Had something happened in their relationship to cause him to kill her? He must have been devastated by something terrible to kill her. What about Thomas Larch? He's her agent. Why would he want her killed? Had Lola done something to really upset him so much that he wanted her killed? Maybe it wasn't murder? Maybe she wanted to die because she couldn't accept her lifestyle? All of these questions could be motives. You will have to read the mini-mystery to find out what actually happened and why. The Adventure of the Negative Clue Stanwick and Walker are investigating another case. A man was found stabbed to death. Two policeman arrested a man, T.A. Orrison, as a suspect in the murder. They found him walking fast down the street. He claimed he had not been in that place for three weeks. He also said that he had just left work at the fish market. He had been there all morning. After a few more questions, T.A. Orrison was arrested for the murder. Go To Page: 1 2
