Like a painter has a canvas but not a picture in his mind. I had chosen my races with nothing more than a name to back them up. Sure I have ideas about what each one will potentially be but each race has such a diversity of culture that highlights will have to the looked at now and as time goes on, all the details will have to be gradually filled in. The races of DragonGrace are Human, One Type of Elf, a Second Type of Elf, Dwarves, Draconians, Catpeople, Merfolk, Saurians, Half_Fae, and Keets.
I have included two types of elves. This may seem odd but I have read and heard of so many different types of elves it's not funny anymore. The first type of Elves of DragonGrace are shorter elves. Elves that come up barely beyond the waist of a human. I know that some people draw elves this way and prefer shorter elves because they resemble a closeness to the fairies of legend. The second type of elf are tall elves or in my opinion, high elves. These are the elves of Tolkien fame that stand tall and thin and proud. They tower over a mortal man and are the epitome of grace and elegance and pride. I think that a dichotomy of the race of elves is an interesting aspect of DragonGrace that other games don't fully explore. Sure there are elf variations that war but the difference in the elves is slight. I think it needs to be obvious so that when you call both races elves you start to question, Which one really is? And if one is truly an elf, what is the other? What is a world with elves but without dwarves? Good for elves! Old elves joke. Anyway, dwarves have been a staple of fantasy gaming ever since I can remember, and DragonGrace is no different. The traditional dwarf of fantasy literature who loves mining and gold run through my mind when I picture DragonGrace, but I know that there is only so many places they can do these things. I picture a much more diverse dwarf that is spread throughout the world with dreams of the old days and legends that stretch back farther than an old dwarfs beard.
