Destiny Is an ill-fated Word

It seems to me that the Internet has lost some of its intended purpose as a dynamic and interactive medium. We use it for more nefarious reasons such as vice, propaganda, and whimsy. Why not begin to use it in the manner that suits it best, as a dynamic interactive medium in which imagination is our only limit?

I'm sure you have all seen out there the subversive sites that in public and in private we are to shun. They equal things like Skimpy Minni's house of pleasure, or Hot Rod's Lustful Adventures. Whatever the case may be we are being fed simple material which our eyes and mind processes rapidly and we move on looking for more simple material. These sites are rapid-fire sites because they are unfulfilling. They provide no substance. Break yourself of that bad habit but be wary.

Also polluting the web are more substantial sites that spew garbage. These are hate sites that promote dissemination and violence towards our fellow man. Falling also in this category are political sites that blatantly use the web as another way to tell you lies about what they will do in office or what they party stands for even though it is comprised of individuals each with his or her own agenda, regardless of party thought.

And finally in the base cockroach infested material of the web are sites that do absolutely nothing but sit there and fester unwant. They are the sites that are only good to look at once and to which you never return or subject all your friends to its repugnance with forwards urging them to go there or be damned by a thousand devils which will descend upon them immediately if they don't visit and tell 500 more of their friends afterward.

So, what then do I propose the Internet be used for that doesn't insult out intelligence and entertains? Games are one good goal towards which the Internet can be directed. They aren't the only reason. The enlightenment of the masses through worthy news and information on the state of the world and science and religion and philosophy are also all good things, provided they don't sink to any of the previous levels. However. I'm here to talk about games.

And in particular, a form of one-person role-playing game known as the Pick-A-Path adventure. What better medium than the Internet to laud upon this form of entertainment? Games have been a valuable form of entertainment throughout all history to teach us and keep us in good physical and or mental shape. The Pick-A-Path adventure helps us to make decisions and choose moral options while advancing towards a fictional goal for our character. Whether that goal is to solve a crisis or simply to advance and grow in character.
