What Can You Do To Help America?

For this week, I will not be writing about Depression In Women as the tragedy in America is all I can seem to concentrate on. For the women already suffering from depression, I hope you will not let this tragedy bring you down with it. You will get through this ... as will Americans everywhere.

Last Tuesday, September 11, 2001 will always be in our hearts and on our minds. I would like to dedicate my article this week to those who lost their lives and to those rescue workers who are still diligently working day and night. I would like to thank President George W. Bush, the military and every American doing their part to bring some semblance of justice to this horrific tragedy. And last, but not least, God bless those heroes who took over the plane in Pennsylvania and saved countless lives at the White House. For any of you who may be reading this who have lost loved ones to this tragedy, you have my deepest sympathy.

For those not close (geographically) to the World Trade Centers or The Pentagon, I am sure you would like to know what you could do to help.

  • First of all I believe the most important thing we can do is pray for the families who have lost loved ones, pray for our leaders and our military. I am aware that all of America does not believe in prayer, this is just my belief. If you believe in sending positive thoughts or vibes, then by all means, please do.

  • Second, the Red Cross foundation needs funds donated for supplies for the relief workers (as well as many other items). You can call 1-800-HELP-NOW for information on how to donate via credit card online.

  • Third, if you are able to donate blood, please do so. You can check out Redcross. Bloodmobiles are also being sent out all over America.

  • Fourth, make sure that your local fireman and policemen know how much you support them. Even if they are not a part of Ground Zero, they feel the loss when one of their own is taken.

If you are still trying to locate loved ones that may have been in the area of any of the terrorist attacks, the American Red Cross Family Well Being Inquiry Line is available to you. The number is 1-877-746-4964.
