Denmark... One of the three pearls of Scandinavia attracts more and more tourists every year with its charm, culture, history, nature and architecture.

Though perhaps not well known, this country is not without its mark of fame. Denmark is home to the classic author H. C. Andersen, famous for his many stories and fairy tales, 'The Little Mermaid' being one of the most popular. And also Kronborg, home for Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', is a Danish landmark well visited. Almost every year a play of the tragic life of the Danish prince is held in the garden of the castle. And then we have the Danish Royal Porcelain with its fine ceramics and plenty of stores with popular Danish home furnishing.

Denmark is home to about 5.5 million people, spread out among the Jutland (Jylland) peninsula and surrounding islands. Zealand (Sjaelland), the largest island plays home to the Danish Royal Family. Though small in stature, its character, history and friendly population makes this fine country seam boundless. Denmark is as flat as it is small, with the highest point being Yding Skovhoej reaching just 568 feet into the sky.

The climate in Denmark is influenced by the surrounding waters, with winters down to about -10 ° Celsius (14° Fahrenheit) and summers up to between 20-25° Celsius (68-77° Fahrenheit). Being a land made up of many islands and the larger peninsula, Denmark has a lot of beautiful sandy beaches and the western coast is a perfect place for surfers to enjoy themselves with its wind and big waves.

Denmark's capital is Copenhagen. This is the perfect place to start your vacation. Entertainment abounds in this city. Take a look at The Royal Ballet of Copenhagen or The Danish Royal Opera House. Denmark is famed for it's shopping streets. with a wide range of shops varying from clothes, jewelry, cameras, pens, furs, souvenirs, candy, ceramics, silverware, shoes, lingerie, coats, hats, cigars to larger shopping malls, cafés, pubs and small and cozy restaurants with food from all corners of the world. The largest of these streets is called Stroeget. Street musicians, art workers and magicians trying to make a little money will entertain you as you walk. At the beginning of Stroeget you will find Tivoli; an old traditional amusement park and one of Denmark's cultural prides. Here people like to get together to enjoy themselves, try some of the amusements, enjoy the gardens and just stroll around looking at marvelous attractions. Twice a week Tivoli has a big fire work show and everyday there are different kinds of things going on, for example the Commedia Dell'arte, the Magician Show, the children's theatre and a couple of times a month Tivoli presents concerts with both domestically and internationally famous singers and entertainers.
