GRACIE'S Dream Room!I have the cutest little neighbor, 4yrs old, and very decor savvy. Gracie wanted a princess room. She knew exactly what color she wanted, "Princess Pink"! :) She also wanted a canopy to hang over the head of her bed. This was her dream of a princess room. Her mom, Lupe, planned to surprise her with just that. Key word here being planned. Lupe is a single parent and thus a one income household. Without careful planning, it would be difficult to accomplish the look she wanted. I've always admired how she cares for her little one. I can honestly say her daughter lacks nothing in love or material needs! :) Since Gracie has asthma, Lupe, sent her away for the weekend. Thus the room will have time to air out from paint fumes. Safety first!! With painting supplies gathered, mom gets started. First she had decided to switch rooms with her daughter so that she would have more room to play and space for her toys. So, she enlisted the help of a friend to help her in moving the furniture. Otherwise, it would take much longer and she wanted to get the paint on as soon as possible so it would have the most time to air out. With her own bedroom emptied, she applied the paint, "princess pink" by Behr. The effect was soft and delicate, just right for a princess. Once the paint had dried, she proceeded to move Gracie's furnishings into the larger bedroom. Immediately she could see this was a good decision. The furniture was easily arranged while still leaving room for storage and plenty of floor space for Gracie to play. To cut back on cost, Lupe decided to continue to use the same bedding. The bedding was still in great shape and complimented the new paint. The bedding, as well as, some of the furnishings, were in a painted daisy pattern. The colors are pink, yellow, purple, blue and bright green. The flowers were in an all over pattern with a white background on the bed linens. There is one large window which has a deep pink vinyl shade with white gauze sheers hung over it. Her larger pieces of furniture, bed and dresser drawers, has a honey-blonde stain. The accent furniture varies: white child size wicker rocker, an antique lingerie chest painted princess pink, a bedside table in the shape of a daisy with the same colors as the bedding, a computer desk painted pink and white, and a large footlocker to be painted white and pink.
