The Important Things

In light of the tragedy that has come upon our nation this week I find myself not even thinking about soaps, television or anything other than those poor people and the awfulness of it all.

Watching those tragedys unfold on television this week has been almost like watching a movie and you keep waiting for the ending and it doesn't come. Scenes played over and over instill shock, sadness and then anger.

This is a tragedy whose magnitude will not be fully known perhaps for several weeks. In my lifetime there has been no other tragedy outside of the Oklahoma City bombing to compare and this looks as if it will overshadow that event in sheer numbers of dead and wounded.

I spent Tuesday glued to my television as most other American's did but not to watch my soaps, but to watch something almost too real to comprehend. It was as if even while watching it you couldn't believe that it was actually happening in your country, to your fellow Americans, to your national landmarks.

I hope you will join me this week and in the coming weeks to keep those people who have been touched directly and all of us who share this national pain in your thoughts and prayers. America will make it through this awful tragedy, we are strong. But it will take a lot of time and this event will never be forgotten.
