Stop The Train!

Shawn and Belle are moving like a very fast train gone out of control. One day they barely acknowledge they have any romantic feelings for each other and the next they are about to have sex! That's what I call moving things along way too fast.

Now I have watched soaps long enough to know that getting characters into bed has been a way of storyline life, but to rush two teen characters into this situation basically overnight is a little bit ridiculous.

Fans have waited for a LONG time for Shawn and Belle to even show that they have any romantic feelings for one another and they got a big payoff with the kiss on the island. But up until then Shawn and Belle hadn't even shared anything like that. And now the show wants fans to buy into them falling into bed together after one kiss?

Maybe I am getting old or am out of touch with teen reality but it seems that even in this day and age this is way too rushed. And where does that leave the romance part of things? Soaps seem to have all but abandoned sweeping, romantic storylines such as the one that united Shawn's parents Bo and Hope and along the way I think they have lost a lot of viewers because of it. The instant sex without the romance doesn't fly with a lot of viewers and the soap execs seem to have forgotten that.

If the show is going to take a year to even get Shawn and Belle to share a kiss you would think they could wait a little while before getting them into the sack together. A little romance never hurt anyone and it certainly wouldn't hurt the show to devote a little more time to it either.

So put the brakes on this runaway train and let the storyline have a little romance first. It could be very sweet and something a lot of fans would like to see happen. Believe me, a little romance goes a long, long way.
