Mean Teens

What is it with all these mean teenagers on Days lately? It seems every time I turn the show on one of the teens is being mean to someone or plotting against someone. Are teenagers really like this in real life? I sure hope not.

The mean teen stories started when Jan lead the pack against Chloe when she first came to Salem High. The ghoul girl chant goes all the way back to last year before the Last Blast Dance. At the dance however, Chloe transformed into this stunning creature and the ghoul girl chants stopped for about 5 minutes.

Now Jan has conjured up a plan to expose Chloe nude on the Internet and in front of the whole school. She dragged along that follower Mimi to help her in the plot. All the while still calling Chloe names and now starting on Chloe's friend Susan.

I know that kids can be mean in real life but do they really treat other teens this way? Maybe I haven't been a teen in so long I have forgotten what high school is like. Or maybe it has changed so much for the worse that it is nothing like when I went to high school. Either way, if high school in real life in any way resembles high school on Days these kids are just plain mean.

I am sure that somewhere down the road Days will attempt to bring these stories into some kind of social story line that attempts to make teens who watch the show think twice about their behavior. But will it really make a difference if none of the teens on the show has to actually be held accountable for their actions? It will be interesting to see how the show plays it out in the end.

I certainly hope that the mean teen storyline is not a reflection of what real teen life is like because if it is then all of us are in real trouble. Post your thoughts on the bulletin board and let me know what you think about the teen storyline and if it is like real life or not!
