Where The Past Comes Alive

The rumors are circulating and it may be more than rumors, that Tom Horton will make an appearance during the holiday show on Dec. 22nd. I for one certainly hope that is true. The recent 35th anniversary shows best moments were the ones that included Tom Horton and I think that it would be a wonderful touch to have him "return" for Christmas.

The magic of television and the use of computer technology will allow Tom Horton to magically appear to Alice during the traditional decorating of the Horton family Christmas tree. I am very happy that the show has continued to make Frances Reid who portrays Alice an important part of the show and to include one of the most beloved of all soap opera actors, MacDonald Carey in this show is doubly wonderful.

Tom and Alice Horton were the backbone of Days for many, many years. When MacDonald Carey passed away it was a sad day for Days fans and for all soap opera fans. The show has shown him in flashbacks including the recent anniversary show, but I think the show next week will show him in possibly a new scenario.

I am sure I will have to get a new box of Kleenex just to be able to watch. I was very teary eyed when the scenes of Tom and Alice were shown on the anniversary show and this may be a lot more emotional for long time show fans like myself.

If you are a new fan of Days, all I can say is that you will have a chance to experience the rich history of the show. The backbone that was Tom and Alice. The great romance and love story that still drives the show through the many Horton relatives. Tom and Alice were beloved by all and having them together for Christmas is a wonderful touch.

I will be taping this show as I hope it will be one to watch over and over. To be reminded of what was and what true soap opera greatness is about. Tom and Alice Horton were and are true soap opera royalty and the very fabric upon which Days is based. Be sure to tune in on Dec. 22nd and have your tissues handy.
