The Fans Decide

In a first for soap opera television, Days will let the fans decide by voting online who the father of Hope's baby will be. The choices are John and Stefano and the execs at Days say they will go with whatever the fans decide for the storyline direction.

The voting starts on May 29 and runs through June 9. You can let your voice be heard by voting at NBC-Days beginning May 29. The show execs say that the fan voted winner will be the way the storyline is played out.

The choices are Stefano and John, Bo is not in the running. The storyline possibilities are good with either John or Stefano turning out to be the winner. Lots of trials and tribulations on both sides and a lot of Salemites affected by either decision.

The online voting to determine the storyline is quite a departure for soaps. In the past, soaps have decided almost entirely on their own how a story will be played out with the wishes of the fans not even taken into consideration. This time though the fans will decide a major storyline development that will play out for a long time to come.

The show has said that it would not immediately reveal or start the storyline after the voting, but that the fans wouldn't have to wait too long for the story to get going once the voting is finished. I look for the story to be played during September sweeps. Some crisis with the baby will reveal the real father more than likely.

So, if you want your opinion to be heard or read as the case may be bookmark the Days site at NBC, mark the voting dates on your calendar and cast your vote for the winner.

You can also vote here at the the Suite101 Days site. I will keep my poll up until the NBC-Days poll is finished and give the results then. We can see if the voters here and the voters there are in agreement. It should be interesting to say the least. Until next week...
